11/19/08 What's wrong with the voting
Democrats in this country? Take Pennsylvania, for example. How can the 3rd largest coal producing state in the
country vote for a presidential ticket where both Obama and Biden were very clear about their position on coal mines in the United States? Not only does Obama want to
bankrupt the coal industry, but Biden wants to ship those jobs to China. Keep in mind that this candidate said the citizens
of Pennsylvania are bitter people who cling to guns and religion and antipathy. Pennsylvania also re-elected a representative
who called them racists and rednecks. I don't know much about his opponent, William Russell, but what in the world
did he do wrong that he lost to John Murtha? Florida and Michigan amaze me as well. These are states that
were told by the Democratic party that because they "went out of turn", that their voice would not be heard in the
primaries, but still voted Democrat in the November 4 election. They were told that they were not as important as states
like Ohio or New Hampshire, and for moving up their primary election were told their delegates would not be allowed to vote.
It was only after Barack Obama sealed up his position as the Democratic nominee that their delegates were given back their
vote. Why are primaries cast on different dates, anyway? Why haven't like states like Mississippi and
North Carolina protested before that they rarely have a voice in choosing the candidate? It seems that Americans have
become so complacent with the luxuries that we have that very few are concerned with the ridiculous way things are done.
(Interestingly, enough McCain won Florida in the primaries, Obama did not, BUT won it in the final election. I guess
Florida did not know what it wanted, anyway.) So my question is: What is wrong with the Democratic voters that they
vote for candidates who call them racist rednecks that cling to guns and religion and who promise to bankrupt a major industry
in their state? What is wrong with these voters that they don't mind being told that their delegates are only told
that they can vote after the candidate has already been decided? More importantly, what is wrong with the Republican
candidates that they are the less desirable candidate when compared to what the Democratic party has to offer? |
